Sweets! Soap Package
I made this project for my Advanced Graphic Design class in the Spring of 2026. The purpose of this project was to create packaging for a fictional bar of soap brand. The package had to include realistic elements like bar codes, net weights, ingredients, contact, recylcling information, and where it’s made. I also had to create 3 or more different scents based on the same brand.
Draft
My concept for the fictional soap brand was bars of soap that are scented like dessert treats. I tried to use more of a simple, retro, 50s diner aesthetic. To do this, I used more simple colors and graphics to illustrate the scents. The font choice was also an important factor in achieving this aesthetic correct. As for the layout, I tried to incorporate the full three dimensions of the package with the design. I had some elements like the dessert graphic and the stripes bleed onto the other side of the package.
Final
For the final version, my professor suggested I lean more into a carnival food stand sort of aesthetic. To accomplish this, I added smaller, subtle elements like the circle and square shapes that are commonly seen on food stands at carnivals. I also added a stripe pattern on one of the sides taht is also seen on food stands. I think both, this design, and my inital draft work well. While this design feels a little more full and complete, I still can see value in the more simpler style of my initial draft.
